How did you start out as a marketer?
When my daughters left for college, I started a blogging tips blog. About a year in, I member of my community who became my friend hired me to coach him on how to fix his blog. I’ve been monetizing my blog ever since. Shortly after, I wrote an ebook and my income streams began.
Looking back what is your hardest struggle when it came to delivering results?
As a blogging tips coach, it’s vital that I experience results such as traffic an income so I can share effective tips with my readers. They know my tips are proven since I prove them to be effective before sharing them on my blog.
How did you get your first client back then, and what kind of service did you do for them?
My friend, my reader named Charles had a friend who kept criticizing his blog. Charles hired me to fix his blog based on his friend’s criticisms.
What do you find most rewarding about what you do?
I get excited when my methods prove so effective I can share them in case studies with screenshots on my blog. I love helping people with proven tips.
We have a lot of readers who are bent on becoming freelancers, aside from freelancing how else can someone earn online, and what is your advice?
There are many ways to make money blogging.
Famous blogger Lilach Bullock just published five of those ways on my blog: https://www.mostlyblogging.com/types-of-blogs-that-make-money/
You can become an affiliate marketer, you can put your posts together as an ebook, you can coach or consult, you can sell sponsored content
If you were given the chance to build your career all over again what would you do differently so that you will achieve your dreams faster?
I would have learned SEO sooner. Initially, I was just focused on the writing and ignored link building and optimization.
How is your typical work day structured?
I’m a full-time teacher. When school is in session, this is my schedule:
I’m up at 5:10 am. I take care of my dogs and go through my emails. Then, I promote my posts in Facebook groups.
I then focus on teaching until my first break when I submit pitches to HARO reporters.
I teach again. During my second break, I respond to commenters. I teach again. After school, I submit to HARO reporters again or go to Quora and answer questions there.
Can you tell us about a time where you had to put in significant effort up front and then wait a long time for success?
I waited for years to see significant traffic coming from Google.
You’ve been tasked with redesigning the company’s brand strategy from the ground up. Walk us through your process.
I feel I’ve built a brand. Branding is a feeling. I built a community. At Mostly Blogging, we have a helpful, active community. I like to think my blog’s name has positive feelings associated with it. That’s branding.
Branding in 2020 looks different than it used to. When you market, you need to be subtle. Due to the Coronavirus, people are suffering. You’ll look insensitive if you come on too strong. Sound caring and helpful. Ask people what you can do for them; don’t tell them what you have to sell them.

It’s a free tool that allows you to check 5 keywords at a time. Here is more information about SERPRobot: https://www.mostlyblogging.com/serprobot-google-position-tools/
What do you do to stay up to date with new marketing techniques?
I read a great deal. I answer questions at Quora and see information there. I also listen to podcasts.
Can you tell us about a project you’re most proud of from your past work history?
I’m proud of all my work. Just yesterday, for example, I submitted an article to someone who hired me for freelance work. The blog was so pleased they tried to hire me for three more articles.
